Projects

The UCI CNT Drug Development Unit (DDU) team is currently supporting seven projects:

  1. Small Molecule Drugs to Stabilize AMPA Receptors as a Treatment for AD – Kevin Beier
  2. Development of Antiviral Therapies for Neurotropic Viral Pathogens – Nir Drayman
  3. Small Molecule Agonists of ACVR1C to Improve Synaptic Plasticity and Memory in AD – Ashley Keiser & Marcelo Wood
  4. Developing Novel Targeted Protein Degradation Modalities – Lauren Albrecht
  5. Ion Channel Modulators That Suppress M-Current for Neuroprotection – Naoto Hoshi
  6. Hit Expansion and Lead Optimization of MAP4K3 Dimerization Inhibitors – Al La Spada
  7. Discovery and Validation of Small Molecule Inhibitors of PIAS1 as a Treatment for Huntington’s Disease – Leslie Thompson

The UCI CNT CNS Delivery Seed Funding Program has awarded three $150,000 grants to faculty teams:

  1. Lipid Nanoparticle Delivery of CNS Therapeutic Agents – Szu Wang (SOE) + Xiangmin Xu (SOM)
  2. Vascularized Choroid Plexus from hiPSCs for CNS Drug Delivery – Quinton Smith (SOE) + Ed Monuki (SOM)
  3. Development of HI throughput BBB Screening Technology – Jennifer Prescher (SOPS) + Brian Paegel (SPPS)
